City By The Sea Veterinary Hospital has been a lifelong dream of Dr. Thomas Caltabilota. Inspired by all the pets at the dog beach, “Yappy Hour” and walking the boards and streets of Asbury Park, Dr. Tom realized that this was the place where he could fulfill his dream of helping animals to help people. Opening its doors in late summer of 2018, City By The Sea Veterinary Hospital proudly offers full-service veterinary medicine and surgery for your furry family members.
At City by the Sea Vet, we believe great veterinary care starts with great community care. We're more than a hospital; we're your neighbors, partners, and pet advocates. Our mission goes beyond treating patients; it's about supporting the pets, people, and programs that make our town a wonderful place to live.
How We Give Back
We’re proud to support local causes and initiatives that strengthen the bond between people and pets. Some of the ways we contribute include:
- Hosting lectures to educate the community
- Sponsoring community events
- Donating supplies and services during local emergencies or natural disasters
- Volunteering our time
Our Rescue & Shelter Partners
Helping pets find their forever homes is a big part of who we are. We work closely with these incredible rescues and shelters:
- Catsbury Park – We’ve partnered with this rescue since day one! As our seventh client, they hold a special place in our history. For the past seven years, we’ve provided medical care for the cats in their care—everything from wellness exams to sick visits and surgery. Together, we’ve helped hundreds of cats stay healthy and thrive.
- Monmouth County SPCA – We’re proud to sponsor their Pearly Whites program, donating one free dental each month to help their adoptable pets shine. We also love joining their annual Dog Walk & Pet Fair, along with other events throughout the year.
- Husky House – We partner with Lorraine, the founder of Husky House, to support events that raise funds for the animals in her care. From selling merchandise at our facility to hosting Puppy Yoga (which we hope becomes a regular event!), we’re always excited to help make a difference.
