Dr. Riback joined City By the Sea Vet in July of 2025 to offer his expertise in Dentistry to patients with more advanced dental needs. He will be working with us every Monday, offering dental consultations and procedures. Services include exodontia of difficult teeth, interceptive orthodontics, root canals, crown reductions, bone biopsies, restorations, and dental bonding ... just to name a few!
Hi there. I'm Dr. Steve Riback from City By The Sea Veterinary Hospital. I graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985, and I've been a practicing veterinarian for 40 years. I owned a small animal practice for many years, then relocated to Manhattan, sold the practice, and started working for the Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York City, a very large not-for-profit teaching and specialty hospital. For the past 20-some years, I've been working in the dentistry department, practicing veterinary dentistry, where I am now Head of Dentistry and Oral Surgery.
The nicest thing about veterinary dentistry is the quality of life it provides for our patients. For me, the biggest reward in veterinary dentistry is having clients return after a couple of weeks and saying, "Wow, my dog smells better. My dog feels so much happier and is acting so much younger." It's been a fascinating and fun part of my career.
