City by the Sea Veterinary Hospital is the culmination of one man’s dream and dedication. Dr. Thomas Caltabilota has enjoyed working with animals since a life-changing summer job at Monmouth Park racetrack in his teens. After obtaining a Master’s degree in equine endocrinology from Louisiana State University and his veterinary training at Tuskegee University in Alabama, Dr. Tom was ready to bring his knowledge back to the Jersey Shore. Today, Dr. Tom and the rest of his welcoming staff provide full-service veterinary care, including all the following services:
Just like humans, pets should visit their veterinarian annually to ensure everything’s functioning as it should be. During your pet’s wellness visit, we’ll discuss the importance of vaccines and parasite prevention, as well as formulate a plan that keeps your pet healthy, fit, and active for years to come. This visit allows you to ask questions regarding your pet’s diet and any changes in their behavior. We may ask questions about your pet’s sleeping, eating, and bathroom schedules, as well as collect urine or fecal sample. X-rays or additional blood tests may be necessary if we suspect there’s an issue. If you have a senior pet, we may recommend bringing them in twice a year. In some cases, we may be able to make a house call to see your pet, but this is a very limited service at this time.
